My istD was good too, but it was a $2000.00 when I bought it, so it damned well
should have
been.
I really think that for what we are paying for a camera as well equipped as the
K10/K20, we just
have to tolerate a lower standard of quality control.
Your contact at Pentax summed it up quite well when he said the average user
wouldn't notice the
problem, but the pro would. I would gladly pay extra for a K20 that had gone
through a full QC
check and adjustment if it meant that these niggling little flaws would not be
a concern.
Unfortunately, Pentax wants to sell cameras, and a K20 priced at 20-30% more is
going to be less
desirable to the bulk of the market.
Most of the leisure photographers that I know just nail the image with unsharp
mask until it is
forced, kicking and screaming all the way, into a semblance of in focus.
Sadly, these are the consumers who dictate what kind of crap we have to
tolerate.

If Pentax gets their Pro Service off the ground, I am going to do is see if I
can pay them to
put my cameras, K10 and K20 both, onto an optical bench and align the screen
and both the
imaging and AF sensors.
