I did buy the first version of a memory card reader for the ipod, back
in 2004. It is slow. It would completely drain the full ipod battery
when reading a full 2GB CF card. I used it only once for that
purpose...

I now use the ipod for picture backup when traveling, but I always
carry a laptop. The ipod is just an external drive...
