If they buy Canon, Sony, (Konica/Minolta), or Nikon and wish to retain TTL metering manual focus lenses are not generally an issue. Since Canon and Nikon between them have about 90% of the DSLR market between, just statistically it's unlikely to be seen as a viable option. It's self fulfilling.
