Just got the 16-50 yesterday. So far it looks like it works (despite all of the horror stories I've been reading). Focus field seems flat, and it focuses to infinity. Yay!
I was REALLY surprised by how LONG this thing is with the hood on. Barely fits into my Tamrac Velocity 3 bag. :-( Just for fun I put the camera on a tripod and shot 3 images with: 1. Kit 18-55 @ 18mm 2. 16-50 @ 16mm 3. Zenitar (at 16mm, natch) The differences in the angles of view are subtle but interesting. (Nevermind the construction project going on in the background.
