Were these true macro shots, as in 1:3 or tighter? You can't really  
expect good autofocus performance on macro shots. They demand manual  
focus. You really need to test manually to see if you have a mirror  
box problem. If you're hoping to get great autofocus perfromance on  
close in macro work, it just isn't going to happen.
