Hello, I have a couple of questions for all you owners and users of the FA* 24mm f2 AL lens. (It recently appeared at the top of the "Favorite Lens Roll Call" list).
I've been considering an upgrade from my trusty, much-used K 24mm f2.8. I mostly use this focal length for scenics and nature photography, so distortion is of little concern to me. Everything I've read indicates that its sharpness is as good or better than the lens I own. (I assume here that stopped down performance at f22 is equally "bad" on both lenses). So,... 1) How does this lens render highlight lusters? (I'm speaking here of diffracting pinpoints of light, not bokeh). I sometimes like to create the "sun-star" effect, or take advantage of pinpoint light sources in night scenes, and I was wondering how the FA*'s eight aperture blades compared to the K's five blades. 2) Under such flare-producing back-lit conditions, how does the FA* perform compared to the more modest K/A f2.8 versions? Thank you all for your input. -Jonathan- Yahoo! GeoCities - quick and easy web site hosting, just $8.95/month. http://geocities.yahoo.com/ps/info1 - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
