Hey, I don't have anything better to do.

> What do I bring?

I've been known to bring photo chemicals. Most people bring a digital
camera or four and every freakin' lens known to man. It's a prime
opportunity to try out new gear, so if there's a lens/body/flash/etc.
you'd like to manhandle, just ask. Someone is probably willing to drag
it up the mountain for you.

Bring clothing suitable for cool weather and rain. It always rains.
Try to layer. It can get warm during the day and below 50 at night.

Leave behind your inhibitions, acrophobia, and any desire to smell good
on Sunday.

> When should I arrive?

Friday afternoon is best. Check the GFM site for check-in times.

Go up the hill, turn right at the Fuji blimps, follow the drunken revelry.

YES!

We're not picky.

Make sure you have something warm to sleep in. Honestly, with all the
crap we bring along you shouldn't really need much.

> What are you packing in your camera bag and what do you suggest?

Well, I'm packing a 645 and maybe a digital P&S. GFM offers a plethora
of opportunities for macro, flora, fauna, landscape, wide-angle,
telephoto, and goofball portraiture photography. If you can't decide
whether to bring a lens, bring it. We're pretty much outside all
weekend, so make sure you have the necessary stuff to keep your
equipment clean and dry. If you follow the mountain goat on the death
march, you might want to bring a camera bag suitable for climbing up
very high and then falling down very low. Bring a tripod or a monopod.

> Should I bring a laptop?

If you are entering the contest and/or want to edit your photos on the
mountain, you should bring a laptop. Otherwise, it's probably dead
weight. Don't expect internet access. For that matter your cell phone
probably won't work for shit, either.
