Tell 'em you'll pay for the civil paperwork, a nice dinner party afterwards, and will take the photos required. Then they can go off to their various destinations and pay for whatever other party they want.
Of course, you'll need to buy new gear to get the best photos for their album. ;-) Never did understand wasting a bunch of money on a wedding party. My friends in the UK had the right idea ... her father offered a down payment on a house or a wedding party: they took the down payment.
