I'm rather partial to the SMC Pentax A*/M* 300mm twins. Either one is a borderline great lens by itself and shows little or no image degradation used with the F 1.7x AF adapter. Moreover compared to most other Pentax super telephotos they're more or less affordable, I guess they're just not special enough...
