Spent a lot of time hiking, hunting, fishing, canoeing, camping, etc. and have a few interesting scars to show for it. One of the more prevalent irritants in that region are known as chiggers (harvest mites). On one occasion they crawled up my left leg all the way to my waist. I was very careful to apply liberal amounts of DEET to my shoes, socks and pant legs after that.
