Thanks Christine (and others who have commented.)
It is probably going to be a couple of weeks before I can comment on
how well the book comes out. I'll be out of town most of the coming
week, even if it comes by the time I get back home, I'll be too busy
sorting/packing for the following week's trip to Costa Rica.

My "calibration" approach is quite crude. I have an iMac with nice
bright LCD monitor. I have an Epson printer that I seldom use, but my
wife needed something printed in color a few weeks ago so I put in
new cartridges and did not only her job but also printed a few of my
photos. I discovered (rediscovered) that images that look right on my
nice bright screen look too dark on paper. So I adjusted my monitor
to a lower intensity, increased exposure on the images (.66-1.0
stops) to get them "bright enough" on the darker screen, and then was
able to get decent prints on the Epson. I used the same approach with
the images Blurb will be printing in the book. We'll see... For what
it is worth, when I look at the pdf preview of my book vs. previews
of others' books, the images on screen seem comparable, so I think I
will be at least fairly close.
