I hate to be a buzzkill, but.... I sent an FA* 300mm F4.5 lens back to Colorado for repair a few years ago. It came back to me horrible mis-calibrated (blurry at all apertures), so I sent it back. The second time I got it back it was dialed in and very sharp.
I sent my DA* 16-50 back this spring due to uneven sharpness across the frame. It came back worse than when I sent it. So it's back in Colorado again. I'm hoping it comes back in better condition. Maybe I'm a "second time's the charm" guy....
