Don't need it in the UK. The law requires that goods sold are "fit for purpose". That means that an expensive "professional" piece of equipment, that is not being (ab)used in a professional manner should last an exceedingly long time. Even better, if it does not live up to reasonable expectations, it is the _retailer_ that is responsible, as that is who you have a "contract to supply" with. I have taken things back to shops way out of any supplied guarantee and had replacements. On one occasion, there was no equivalent and I received a significant upgrade.
