Leave it in the rack and put the free version of XenExpress on it....
 Then you can install Vista or XP in a Virtual Machine with
para-Virtualization drivers and they run as fast as native.   Access
the Virtual Machine via Microsoft's RDP client.  There are RDP clients
for Linux as well, or Install VNC.
