hi,

one more....

at about 15,000ft in ladakh, india, is the changthang plateau and hanle
is the biggest town there. it has the world's highest telescope (builit
by an american company) installed there which is operated and
controlled through satellites from bangalore more than 2,000 miles away.

the town also has a monastery built in the mid 16th century. this photo
was taken from the observatory and one of the instances i wished i had
a slightly longer lens. i had just taken the 16-45.... the whitish
thing on the foreground ridge is the monastery.. :-)
