Well, I _did_ try to shoot the air-ripples themselves after
that, but I couldn't attach my cell phone securely enough to
the eyepiece of the telescope to be able to tell what was the
air and what was vibration at my end on the video.
Then I took pictures of my cat, from a much more manageable
distance.
