Rick,
#2 being drab is a real disadvantage.
The building is gray.  The window frames look uneven (dirty or wet grout).
There is other stuff in the frame (lower left).
The bright flowers don't 'sing' against a white background as in #1.
Interesting the contrast between the two photos...
