Mid level commercial photographers do just fine with Canon and Nikon. And if they get a job that really justifies medium format digital, they can rent equipment. But a mid level shooter who works for $2000 a day or so generally doesn't get work that justifies MF expenditure. Some, of course, shoot MF or large format film at that level.
