Both the old and new printers are Canons. The S9000 was the seven year old. It did a great job and I hope it's great-great-grandson does as well.
Before I bought the S9000 I had gone through an Epson, Lexmark and HP. I eventually moved to Canon for a couple of reasons. I moved away from Epson because (at that time, don't know about now) if the head clogged it had to go back for service. As far as print quality goes, the Lexmark was actually a much better printer than it's reputation. I liked the idea that the print heads were part of the cartridge, so you got a new print head every time you changed ink. Unfortunately, about one of three cartridges were clogged right out of the box. The local store was good about exchanging them, but it was just too much of a pain in the neck. I liked the idea of the heads in the cartridge, so I switched to HP. The print quality was good, but the ink was too expensive. I ended up with the Canon S9000 because it had a head that was replaceable by me, and the ink tanks were clear. I could actually see how much ink was in the tank. One of the hardware web sites did a cost comparison and Canon gave you a lot more ink for the money. It lasted seven years and did a great job. So, when the time came for a replacement I stayed with the brand that had given me the best service. In reality, I think the current batch of Epson, Canon and HP printers are are probably about equal, though each seems to take a slightly different approach on the number of inks and number of blacks and grays. In the end, they probably all do a reasonably good job. See you later, gs On Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 8:04 PM, Paul Stenquist <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > George's printer is a Canon?
