On 6/8/08, Bob W, discombobulated, unleashed: >I'll bet Cotty wished he had his video camera so he could sell the >footage!
Well, funny you should mention that! Actually, it happened while we were at the top of a mountain next to the city, reached by a funicular railway. As we walked out onto the viewing area it was obvious a fire was taking hold in the harbour below. We rattled off some shots and the thought had crossed my mind that either newspaper or TV might want the shot, but to be honest, I was on holiday and couldn't be arsed. Not exactly the White House going up in flames, just a local warehouse type building, and I couldn't see any flames anyway, just lots of smoke. 30 minutes later we were back down and the smoke was mostly gone, and by then I counted three news crews and a few snappers, so they had it all covered. To be honest, if I did make a sale, it would have been hassle sorting it out via phone conversations and then computer time and upload etc etc - while we had a 2 hour scheduled stop in Bergen, and then the fee - if they'd used the pic - would have only been in the region of a hundred quid or so - just not worth the hassle. If newspaper stills fees were ten times that, sure no problemo, but hey, I'm chilling out baby! Besides, Jostein got a much better shot than me - he had a 300 mil on a 1.5 sensor, while I only had 200 mm on a 1.3 sensor. Did get some nice sunset pics this evening tho - from a house on the side of a hill overlooking the fjord - the hills and the water reminds me of the San Francisco bay when I was growing up in Ca. Beautiful. Pics soon. -- Cheers, Cotty ___/\__ || (O) | People, Places, Pastiche ||=====| http://www.cottysnaps.com _____________________________ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
