Thanks Christine, Charles, Jack, Rick, Doug, Dave, Paul, Frank (hope I haven't missed anyone) for the comments on Take 1.
Bit of variation in the comments - yes, the contrast is high but that golden/orange light was what attracted me to it. I'm working on a river project to show the Nepean River environs under all sorts of conditions so I quite like this image in that context. Christine - not sure what that 'Brian Walters' Wow Dynamic' is. 'Brian Walters' Wombat Droppings' is the reaction my photos usually receive! :-)> Dave - hope you got out to take some photos after commenting.... Paul wondered whether the image might be improved if the stump on the left without any illumination was removed. After playing around with the idea a bit I decided that he was right. Hence - Take 2. http://www.blognow.com.au/PESO/95818/Stumped_-_Take_2.html The cloning and other manipulations around the left hand stump probably need more work but I think it's an improved composition - still with strong contrast, though. I also slightly increased the size of the image horizontally and then cropped a bit off the left, to keep the original aspect ratio. What say you?
