I am in total agreement. The artist must know what conventional
thinking dictates. And when that artist breaks a rule, he or she must
have a valid reason for doing so. But there should never be barriers
to the expression of an idea. If a new expression or point of view is
invalid, criticism and the test of time will render it so. Altering a
photograph with digital tools isn't exactly heresy, it's a valid form
of artistic expression and experimentation. The jury went out on that
a long, long time ago.
