I do find a fixie easier (well, more comfortable) for exactly that reason. With a geared bike you can pull the bike back but it's not particularly graceful. And a slight upward slope does make it easier, especially when you're still learning. One of these days I should learn to ride the fixie backwards. And learn to trackstand with either foot forward, and one-handed (so I can indicate while balancing). The vid that someone posted of Armstrong was one of the classiest bits of road riding I've ever seen (I had seen it on DVD before). He did very well to avoid the crash and rejoin the race after his little cross-country excursion. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
