Makawao is on the side of the Halealalaa volcano, and Makawao Street,on which the restaurant fronts, is fairly steep. The restaurant floor is level.
It was, of course, the sign that caught my eye. It fits into the mood of the town, which is a mix of Paniolos (cowboys) and artists.
