I'm really only pointing out why the MZ-S could be seen as significantly 
more complex than the MZ-3 (listing buttons I suppose!). The illumination 
button is certainly necessary if you're using the camera in the dark, as I 
did on Sunday at the local pantomime dress rehearsal. IMO the MZ-S has three 
unnecessary controls - the lock button for the exposure compensation dial, 
the hold switch, and of course the databack. However, it lacks a panoramic 
switch (that's a good thing IMO). 

Overall I like my MZ-S very much, prefering it generally to my old MZ-5n 
which my wife now uses. However, using the 5n has a nice simple low-tech 
feel which is just lovely (even though it is a high-tech camera).
