When I was shooting with a 6x7, I used both a spotmeter and incident meter. Actually, I used the incident meter most often. You really need both. When the light on the subject is the same as where you're standing, the incident meter is best. When it varies or when you have to quantify a highlight or shadow, the spotmeter is best.
