I have noticed that when links containing the # symbol are embedded in some email programs, some browsers terminate the url at the # sign. After experimentation the the problem does not occur if you enclose the link within a pair of <> type brackets.
I think some browser/email combinations my be using the # symbol as some kind of special character. Then again, I could be totally wrong.
