Thought you might like the irony in this.

I've now sold all my Canon gear - the 1DmII, the 70-200 2.8, the 24-70
2.8, 2X extender, 580EX flash, Angle Finder C, Quantum Turbo battery.
The Pentax K50 and A20 auctions end this weekend. My eBay fees were 80
GBP! But I put them up as B.I.N.s and they all went swiftly (most within
ten minutes) and they've all shipped and settled, and I'm not scraping
along the overdraft limit anymore.

Anyway. This week in the UK, ITV ran a Teacher of the Year Awards
region by region and we had 4 finalists. I shot items about 2 of them,
one works at a special boarding school for abused kids and by chance is
a neighbour in my village. The winner was decided by panel of 6 judges
worthy and true, and happily it was my neighbour who won, and we filmed
the surprise presentation on Friday.

On my brief it said 'cameraman to bring good quality digital camera to
snap winner for co-sponsor Daily Mirror newspaper'.

My Epson R-D1 had 2 flat batteries, so I grabbed the *ist Ds+18-55 and
headed out (I carry several dozen AA and 9v batteries on board with me daily).

After filming the surprise presentation (teacher was suitably amazed and
grateful, clapped on by a phalanx of colleagues), I gathered them around
for a quick shot for the newspaper. The *ist Ds buffer is slow!!
compared to the 1DmII but on a sunny day with the flash up, did the
trick - even though it was set to large fine jpeg (I would have set it
to RAW if I had the time/brain cells).

I've had odd things in papers before but nothing for years.

I sent the paper the first, third and fifth pics.
