It's not exactly a "daylight" shot. It was taken in the Maui Ocean Center, "The Aqaurium of Hawai'i." The "Sea Jelly Gallery" is in a darkened room. It is a stunning floor-to-ceiling cylinder, lit with blue light. It is the aquarium's most soothing exhibit, and one I always find hypnotic. You can get an idea of the exhibit in the fourth video here:
http://www.mauioceancenter.com/index.php?id=12&ss=0&page=gallery&content=gallery I have tried to photograph this exhibit many times during five visits over the past 10 years, mostly with poor results. The glass of the cylindrical tank and the lighting make things tricky. The glass is often covered with visible hand prints from young visitors. Flash is, of course, out of the question. Mostly, I used manual focus, because the AF would usually pick out the surface of the glass, rather than the fish I was trying to capture. The image data on this shot, however, indicates it was taken on auto focus, 800 ISO, 0.1 sec, and f4.5. I had no tripod or monopod, so I leaned against the wall, bracing my elbows against the wall and my side to steady the camera. It was not totally successful, but then sharpness isn't always everything.<G> In any event, this is my favorite of all the many shots I have attempted at the sea jelly tank. I like it because it reminds me of a very special place and it has an abstract zen-like quality than makes me feel peaceful.
