Among my favourite redundancies is the phrase "preventative
maintenance".  I mean, isn't maintenance by it's very nature...?  Oh
hell, never mind.

It should be Preventive Maintenance, and all it means is you do those maintenance tasks that prevent failure - like checking the oil & topping it off; making sure there's enough air in the tires so they don't run flat; make sure the battery has a charge etc.

Getting routine oil changes, adding anti-freeze to the coolant when winter comes, grease the steering & suspension so they don't seize up.

Even filling up with gas before you run out ...

Nothing redundant about it.
