The new Leica DSLR is neither a 4/3rds format camera nor does it use R mount lenses. It's a larger than 35mm format midway between 35mm and 645 format in format size with a 3:2 aspect ratio. It uses a completely new set of Leica S mount lenses.
Leica does sell 4/3rds DSLR's which use 4/3rds lenses, but they're simply rebadged Panasonics. Leica also sells a few 4/3rds lenses, mostly in kits with either Leica or Panasonic branded SLR's, but there's a pair of lenses available outside the kits (a 25mm f1.4 Summicron-D and a 14-150mm D Vario-Elmar OIS zoom,Leica refers to the 4/3rds mount with the D designation) -Adam On Mon, Oct 20, 2008 at 9:18 PM, JC OConnell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Does this 4/3 leica dslr use legacy 35mm leica-R lenses?
