The vagueness of manual focusing is more a characteristic of autofocus
screens than it is of the format size. I've used small format cameras that
had better focus 'snap' than some larger format cameras.

Viewfinder image size is a no-win situation for the manufacturers. When I
got my first ME-Super I loved the viewfinder image, probably because it was
nearly as large (but nowhere as bright) as my Bronica ETR. Later, when I
got a Super-A, I was relieved that the viewfinder image was smaller. The
smaller image could be appreciated and acted upon quickly with little eye
movement, whereas the big image needed larger eye movements and more time to
appreciate the whole picture.

Freedom of choice is a good thing.

Regards, Anthony
