On the other hand, there isn't one piece of pirated software on any of our PC's: as a developer myself, I want to be rewarded for the effort I put into

When I was a short lived hardware developer on the Apple ][+ platform, and later when I formed a user group in Fredericksburg, VA, and later when I was on the board of a large user group in Seattle, and when I was a QC tester for Aldus on PageMaker, and later when I was a Mac computer consultant, and when I worked Apple's booth's at several MacWorlds, all my computers had any and all the software I needed or wanted, costing me from $0.00 to $25.00 at most. Even my computers were free or about 10% of list. As a developer, I suspect you are offered may of the same privileges.

Now that I'm a retired spook who finished his career(s) driving a bus, no one offers me anything. So I have to buy what I absolutely need, at the best price I can get it for. And yes, if I absolutely have to have something that would cost me over $418.27 (haven't yet) I know just where to go to get it.
