OK,
Just spoken to Pentax UK and their "MZ-S Expert" *assured* me that the data
imprinting happens on a per-frame-shot basis, NOT during the film rewind.
So we're now back to TWO questions:
1. Anyone had any problems with MZ-S film rewind (particularly - though not
only - with bulk-loaded film)?
2. Anyone had any problems with MZ-S imprinting on certain types of film?
Pentax have said they would need the camera back which is not exactly ideal
for an 8-week old "flagship SLR" :-(
Thanks
P.
Paul,
Not to help with the rewind problem, but I did note that with mine
the imprinting was less than ideal with faster film (over 400). I sent mine
back becuse I had a couple of instances of frame overlap. I noticed that
the imprinting was better when I got it back. I have to try to recall if
the only instance of film rewind occurred before I sent it in for warranty
work.
Just because it is a 'flagship' does not mean that it will work
perfectly out of the box. As a matter of fact I have owned four Pentax
cameras since new - Super Program, LX, ZX-5, and MZ-S. The Super Program is
the only one that never had a need for warranty work.
Talking with the sales clerks at my local photo store, they see no
differences between the different brands (they do Nikon, Canon, and Pentax
in SLR) in terms of warranty work. I have talked to enough Nikon flagship
camera users to know that a good amount of these end up going back for one
problem or another.
Just my 2 cents,
