Maybe, for $12 it's worth it to try, if it doesn't work you're out what 12 bucks...

Oh wise nerds on the PDML, lend me your smartz,
I have an old AMD K6-2 computer here. I'm using it as a file storage box but my transfer speed is like 5-8 Mbps (ugh). The motherboard's NIC is a 10/100 version so it should be faster. Somebody suggested the bottleneck is likely to be my motherboard's antiquated IDE interface (non UDMA). Since I have open PCI slots, could I get a IDE controller card (like $12) and enjoy the breezy speeds of the PCI bus?
What say ye?

You get further with a kind word and a gun, than with a kind word alone.
