1,000-1,200 photos is a lot.  How many do you post?

I went to a wedding and shot some pix.
I showed some of them here -

Now my daughter has a link to the photographer's web site.
They have posted 1,000+ photos from the wedding.
42 pages of 25 thumbnails each, linking to larger photos.
This is positively overwhelming.  You've gotta show less!

What's the practice out there these days?
