Yup, I regularly shoot 1,000 or more a day at the race track, where there's
literally something going on every second, just about no matter where you
are.  And that's with minimal use of continuous shutter release, a/k/a
machine gun mode.  Which is only a couple of FPS anyway, on Pentax DSLRs.

The D700 does 7 FPS, but I only have so many cards :-)
I find time to be a more important constraint than storage, and almost everyone knows I have far too much spare time on my hands.
