Mmmm, somehow related to this, I visited the 'usual' photo stores in the center
of Barcelona this weekend and, in the 3 ones that used to carry Pentax:

- One only had a K10D at a discount price.
- Other only had a K20D and a 100D super, and a DL ans DS in the 'outlet area'
at too high prices. They still had several DA primes and zooms though.
-The third one (and the one that has more Pentax gear, better prices and seem
to sell more) still had a lot of stuff and ... the K-m (the first one that I
see available in Spain, even online). As a reference, body only 349 EUR and
body + kit lens + bag + 2GB SD + battery charger 399 EUR. Really good prices
IMHO and very tempting as a second body now that I sold my Ds to a work
colleague. if test confirm a real improvement in AF speed, it is going to be
difficult to resist...

So I don't know if the other shops have not received yet the material for
Christmas or is just that poor sales of the last models have made them abandon
Pentax (again) after the short recovery led by the K10D.
Anyway, i didn't like this poor presence in the shelves.

Regards,
Jaume

Asunto: Visited today local Pentax service

Hi!

Actually I am somewhat saddened. Here is a bit of a rant.

After 1.5 or so years without sensor cleaning I finally made my way to
the largest and most official (actually the only truly official)
Pentax service in Ramat Gan (a city bordering Tel Aviv). The good news
is that they did very good job and that even after warranty of my K10D
expires, they will clean the sensor free of charge.

The bad news. This very company is also an official dealer and
importer of many other brands including Canon. So I walk into the
store in hope to buy DA 16-45/4 locally with decent warranty attached
to it. And so I ask the clerk. Quoth she - we don't sell Pentax
lenses, period. I saw two FA 28-80/3.5-5.6 and a two digit number of
all kinds of lenses for Canon. Including, ironically, Tokina 10-17,
50-135/2.8, 35/2.8 macro, and 11-16/2.8 (which is not labeled Pentax,
hopefully, yet). So I could "almost" buy it.

Although as is, it is predictable and so on, but still, I am pretty
frustrated by the fact that they probably couldn't find a business
sense to offer some Pentax gear. What they did offer was a number of
various models of Pentax digital compacts. I am no expert in these, so
I couldn't tell how up to date the models were.

Ultimately, I gave them my phone number and asked them to call me if
they would have either DA 16-45 or FA 24-90 for sale.

Well, now I am a bit vented ;-).
