If it isn't appropriate to give a Buddha on Christmas, it certainly
would be for Buddha's birthday on Dec 8! (I believe it's celebrated on
Dec 8 in Japan: Buddha's birthday is celebrated on different days in the
various countries in which Buddhism is a major religion.)
