Thanks for the responses.

A couple of folks asked about the car. It is stuffed in the back corner of a restaurant parking lot in Mountain View ... doesn't look abandoned but also doesn't look like it has been driveable for a good while. I was there about 5:30-5:45 pm on Saturday, so a little past dusk, waiting for some folks to join me when I saw the glint off the grill. It was illuminated solely by the parking lot lights and security lights in the apartment behind it ... a bit on the harsh side but it had a distinctly "noir" edginess to it that I was drawn to.

I made ten exposures, trying to get a good, sharp hand-held capture ... this is one of three candidates that made it: I liked the angle and perspective I caught here a little more than the other two. All the cropping and image adjustment was done in Lightroom 2.1 .. there aren't too many tricks involved, it's mostly one of the monochrome rendering pre-sets I've developed to do the job with a few tweaks and some tight cropping. I printed an 8x11 of it this morning, it's very satisfying. I'm sure it can go to 12x18 inch without any problem.

Yes, Mike: this could be another folio series. I found as I wandered through my files that I have three or four similar automotive photos that fit together nicely. I'll have to pursue this a bit further. ;-)

And yes also, katie: we need another photo outing soon!! Before or after Xday? hmm. I'd like to do another SF day. Timing is tight ...

Good car portrait, G. This one could go either way;
menacing like Christine, or serene like just an old
heap.

I think this is one of the best images I have seen from yours. Stunning.....

In the dark, a different age still glows in its decrepitude ...
