I still think the look of this particular camera sucks.
It's not the "look" that I find unappealing. A "white" K10D or K20D
wouldn't bother me, although the color of the body wouldn't be a factor
either way in a purchase decision.
The bottom line for me is does the camera give me the tools I want to
take the kind of photographs I want to take. The K2000 does NOT. And
making a "white" version is just lipstick on a pig.
From Nikon we get the D3, D3x, and D700
From Canon we get EOS 5D, EOS 50D, ... even the EOS Rebels
Both lines with a full range of available lenses, from Ultra-wide zooms
through wide, normal, telephoto and super telephoto.
Not to mention, both lines still support FILM with cameras and lenses.
And what do we get from Pentax? "Auto Picture Action, Kids, Pet, Stage
Lighting, and Night Snap modes," ... COMING SOON in white with a
"Dedicated help button".
Don't get me started on Pentax lenses.
I think Hoya was only interested in the Pentax's medical imaging
division, but for public relations purposes had to pay lip service to
continuing the Pentax camera division.
But the sooner they can drive it into the ground with this kind of crap,
the sooner they can close it down and be shut of it.
