Full res is noisier, but that's also with NR off in-camera and minimal NR in post (just the default that CaptureNX provides unless I turn off NR, I literally opened the RAW in CaptureNX then immediately saved the JPEG). I could easily reduce the noise significantly by turning in-camera NR on.
