My list of folders was getting cumbersomely long, so I decided to create a
folder for each year, and sort my existing folders into them.

To do so, I used the Mac's Finder, and then had LR2 synchronize the folders.

Bad idea.

I had to delete all of the now-empty "ghost" folders from the list in LR, which
was a minor pain. I went away and did other things while LR restored the
previews, which could have been a moderate pain but wasn't.

The major pain is that all of my Collections are now empty. Aargh.

What I should have done is to have right-clicked on the top folder in my
hierarchy in Lightroom, chosen "Create Folder inside ---", and then moved
things around within LR.

Of course, if Adobe had put these tasks in a menu, OR had documentation that
was worth more than a maggot-ridden turd, I would have known this before I
started.
