Thanks for all the comments! I may play with a B&W conversion at some point, but right now I'm going through a couple hundred shots from that trip that I've only glanced at.
This rendering already has lots of fill light added in LR2--it was much more contrasty "as shot". The trick was to preserve the drama (for lack of a better term) of the lighting while not having the shadow areas murky. I may go back and take my flash with me...
