This railway is part of my childhood, really. It runs between Paignton
and Kingswear (where I lived when I was very young) in Devon. Despite
it's name, this railway doesn't go to Dartmouth: When you reach
Kingswear you have to take a ferry across the river to Dartmouth, where
there's a railway station that has literally never seen a train!
When I was a kid, it was a regular rail line that ran standard
diesel/electric locomotives and we used it to go into Paignton (and then
Brixham or Torquay) to go shopping. It was shut down during the rail
closures of the seventies, IIRC, but re-opened as a steam-driven tourist
attraction. At one time, a major newspaper rated it as the most scenic
rail route in Britain.
