Hi Tom, Nice action shots -- you've got all the Background-People-Symbol-Interaction elements that Rohn Engh describes as important in stock photos. The snow came out really nice, even without manual exposure compensation. That certainly does say something about Pentax's implementation of matrix metering. One question occurred to me, however. It seems that in magazine cover shoots, one needs to follow some additional rules concerning format of the shot (portrait vs. landscape) and proper composition to allow later placement of magazine cover text and graphics. Looks like several of your shots were composed with these rules in mind, and that you could easily place the magazine title, UPC barcode, etc., in all the right places. Is this something you consciously thought about when composing? Maybe some other list members could address just exactly what extra thinking goes into cover shot composition. Is there one set of general rules? Or does it vary from one magazine to the next, or even from one issue to the next for any single given magazine? Just wondering......
