I'm a bit late on this, Michael, but if you haven't already made the
purchase, my comments might be useful.

Sherpa is the european designation; over the ocean it is called
[Mountain] Chaser, so maybe our american friends can recognize it
now and perhaps help you some more, as I own a Sherpa 750 and can
  only tell you about it.

The 750 came with the standard 2 way head and am quite satisfied with it.
  On the pros:
    - lightweight (2.2 kg) but sturdy (can easily take a 3 kg unbalanced rig)
    - reliable fast locks (although polycarbonate I haven't
experienced a break in two harsh winters)
    - the detachable center column allows you to lower it down to 28
cm and this is great for macro shots.
  On the cons:
    - it's a four segment leg, and the fourth is too thin to reliably
hold anything above 100 mm focal length
    - the leg's rubbery point is flat and perhaps great for studio work
but certainly not the happiest choice for a hiking tripod - as the
manufacturer advertises. It tends to slip on fallen foliage as
well as frozen snow and this significantly undermines an
otherwise great tool. If you plan to use it on slopes, you might
be better with a Manfrotto and its spiked points.

  Good luck,

  Alin
