I've never noticed anything odd about the autofocus on my copy, other than it's very fast for a Pentax autofocus lens. I've used it extensively. Along with its 16-50 sibling, it's one of my most used lenses. It's great in continuous autofocus as well. I used it in that mode for that magazine cover pic.

Yours may have had to smooth out the assembly lubricant a bit. I doubt that you'll notice any hesitation again.

Just finished (for the moment) checking out a new DA* 50~135 f/2.8 received yesterday from B&H.
Right at this moment I'm in love..so to speak. <ahem>
A question: When I first used AF, it seemed to be a bit stiff. I wondered if it might just be tight and would limber up with use. When refocusing with a substantial distance between focus points, it 'almost' felt like it re-focused in a couple stages.
I just now rechecked the 'issue' and I don't believe I have one.
This is largely a way of releasing a little of my pent up pleasure with the lens' performance, and at the same time, ask if such a focus anomaly(?) has been experienced by anyone else.

Thanks,

Jack
