it's still a 300mm lens. The only real difference is that it's image circle covers 60x70 while your negative is 24x36. If you have the right adapter, it'll just be like a 300/F4 for K mount but much heavier and bulkier. When moving from format to format, the changes in focal length do *not* affect the focal length, they merely affect the image on the size of the film. That 800/f4.0 you can get for the 6x7 is *still* an 800/f4.0 on 35mm, and it's still and enormous bazooka of a lens (I wouldn't point it within about two countries of the POTUS[1] without expecting a visit from the Secret Service) Unfortunately, there's no adapter for putting your FA50/1.4 on a 6x7. This is an enormous pity, in my estimation, as the market for mounting 35mm lenses on 6x7 is *far* larger than mounting 6x7 on 35mmm. Yes, I know you'd need some optical elements to focus it, but *wow* a 15mm f3.5 on 6x7 (or any of the sub-100mm lenses on 6x7) would blow away all the competition. If Pentax could sort out an adapter which would allow 35mm lenses on the 6x7, I think the other MF manufacturers would panic. dave [1] POTUS: President Of The United States - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
