Yes, I'm using a PC640A (alkaline) in my 1/21 and that seems to be OK even
although i suspect the voltage is too high (1.5v? vs 1.3v for mercury
cells).
Try it and see if you can arrange to compare your meter against another
spotmeter just to make sure it doesn't read too high or low. In any case
calibrating it would probably be a good idea - no need to fiddle with the
internals so long as you know how much it is out by and can compensate
appropriately.
